- Tasting Notes
Rosso Toscana IGT
Red blend of Sangiovese and Merlot
The Castle of Monterinaldi settlement, in the commune of Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the oldest historical area of the Chianti Classico, is situated near an ancient Etruscan route. Eighteen single Vineyards, 38 terroirs, 55 hectares, as self contained as a turtle: Sangiovese of different clones, Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Nera, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Gamay, Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Cabernet-Franc, Malvasia Bianca, Trebbiano, Chardonnay. Monterinaldi today is an estate in conversion to the organic management which will become organic certified from 2017 vintage.
Ruby red color of medium intensity, on the nose it shows deep sensations of small black fruits with notes of wild blackberry and blueberry. It has a medium body, it’s enveloping with a pleasant softness, and is well balanced by the typical acidity of Sangiovese. The silky tannins are very well integrated. Nice sensations of ripe fruit and slight memories of wet soil. Aged in cement vats and stainless steel and a further 3 months in the bottle.
It pairs well with chicken dishes, medium aged cheeses, and even on its own as an aperitif.
