RUA Pinot Noir 2019
- Tasting Notes
100% Pinot Noir
The most awarded and best value wine you could find! Awarded five trophies and 12 gold medals over the last five vintages, RUA is nothing short of a show-stopper!
The complexity in Akarua wines is primarily vineyard derived and whether the wines are blended across different parcels or expressions of a single block, they benefit from the uniqueness of each site. Viticulturist Mark Naismith farms the Akarua estate sustainably, encouraging each parcel to balance naturally and find its own voice. Akarua is mindful of treading lightly on the land, and with an eye on for the future. Since purchasing Central Otago's oldest certified organic vineyard in 2018, Akarua has launched into organic farming and is converting a second vineyard to organic certification.
Bright cherry red in the glass. Lifted perfumes of spices - cinnamon, black pepper and clove; with blackberry and raspberry, sage and wild thyme. Bright red berries, with darker notes of tart mulberries and back cherries. Soft silken tannins, bright structural acidity with an earthy mineral thread. A benchmark vintage of RUA.
